Welmetal Resources Group Limited (referred to as "Welmetal Resources ") primarily engages in the storage, distribution, and processing services of construction steel in the Greater Bay Area. The storage and distribution segment includes rebar, H-beam, sheet piles, medium-thick steel plates, steel pipes, cold-rolled coils, color-coated coils, galvanized coils, wire rods, and more.
The processing segment includes off-site rebar cutting and bending, on-site rebar tying, supply and threading of rebar couplers, custom-made steel meshes, and prefabrication of steel structures (Dongguan, China factory), among others. Welmetal Resources also engages in international trade of scrap steel, steel billets, and iron ore. The company has steel warehouses in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macau.
Welmetal Resources has established its management system in accordance with ISO-9001 standards and has been recognized as a qualified steel distributor by the Hong Kong government. With decades of industry experience and a strong reputation, our management team has built a comprehensive supply chain and customer network.

Welmetal Resources Group became independent from Guangdong Huamei Group at the end of 2013 and, although no longer a state-owned enterprise, continues to lead in the steel industry in Hong Kong and Macau. We have successfully secured numerous significant infrastructure and residential contracts and maintain ongoing partnerships with top Chinese state-owned enterprises such as China Minmetal, China Communications Construction Company, and China State Construction Engineering Corporation, actively expanding into international markets.
The success of Welmetal Resources Group is rooted in its profound commitment to human resources. Our management team comprises elites with extensive experience in the Hong Kong and Chinese steel industries, starting from grassroots levels and possessing strong procurement advantages and a broad international network. We have established deep and longstanding cooperative relationships with clients and suppliers, deeply understanding client needs, grasping market supply situations, and providing cost-effective, high-quality steel products. We are dedicated to stringent product quality control and ensuring efficient coordination of delivery times with client project management.
Welmetal Resources Group is not merely a comprehensive steel resource provider but also offers comprehensive solutions to clients, including logistics, financing, and other services, assisting clients in overcoming various production challenges. Currently, we have successfully launched operations large-scale prefabricated steel structure factory and are actively planning the establishment of a rebar processing center. These facilities, conveniently located near ports, facilitate exports overseas and fully comply with safety and quality standards set by the Hong Kong government and international regulations.

Executive Director - Zhang Huanxiang

Mr. Zhang Huanxiang holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from China University of Geosciences. He has been serving as the Executive Director of Welmetal Resources Group since 2013. After graduating in 1989 with a specialization in rolling steel from Qingdao Steel Technical School, Mr. Zhang joined Qingdao Steel Corporation as a worker in the production department. He later joined Shekou Huahai Metallurgical Machinery Engineering Co., Ltd., where he was promoted from a salesperson to Sales Manager within five years due to his outstanding performance, and was admitted to the Chinese Communist Party in 1995.
In 1996, Mr. Zhang joined Shekou Huamei Steel Company, rising from Trade Manager to Deputy General Manager. In 2004, he simultaneously served as Deputy General Manager of Guangdong Huamei Group and General Manager of Shenzhen Huamei Steel Co., Ltd. In 2006, he became the General Manager of Shenzhen Huamei Sheet Material while retaining his position as Deputy General Manager of Guangdong Huamei Group. Despite his increased responsibilities after his promotion to management in 2004, Mr. Zhang continued his education and earned two Master's degrees in Business Administration and Industrial Engineering from China University of Geosciences. Due to significant changes in the equity structure of Welmetal Resources Group in 2013, Mr. Zhang became an Executive Director and one of the principal shareholders of the group.

Milestones
1979

China Merchants Group established Shekou Industrial Zone to invite foreign investments, forming Welmetal Steel (Shenzhen) Limited.

1981

Mr. Yuan Geng, General Director of Shekou Industrial Zone, hosted the ground-breaking ceremony for Welmetal Steel's production line.

1983

Welmetal Steel commenced trial production. Mr. Yuan Geng accompanied Mr. Yu Mu, Vice Premier of the State Council, and Mr. Huang Hua, Foreign Minister, to visit Welmetal Steel.

1984

Comrade Deng Xiaoping visited Shekou and shook hands cordially with Mr. Xu Zhi Ming, Chairman of Welmetal Steel and ex-Vice General Director of Shekou Industrial Zone.

2004

Began development of Welmetal Metal Material Industrial Park, acquiring 400,000 square meters of land in Song Gang, Bao'an.

2008

Welmetal Steel relocated to Welmetal Metal Material Industrial Park, undertaking a full upgrade and retrofit of the production line; annual production capacity reached 1 million tonnes, with exports to Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia regions.

2010

Successful trial operation of the new production line; annual production capacity of 1 million tonnes. Production of high tensile steel that complies with national standards (full range) and British Standards (10mm–50mm), distributed to Hong Kong and Macau regions and exported to other countries.

2012

Welmetal Resources Group Limited was formed by Welmetal Steel and experienced practitioners from the steel industry in mainland China and Hong Kong. It specializes in providing steel materials and total solutions for logistics and finance to construction projects in Hong Kong and Macau, and distribution of steel products overseas.

2022

The group has grown its revenue from HK$0.6 billion to HK$3 billion in the past decade and expanded its business to real estate development and service centers for rebar and structural steel.
The stockist and steel processing businesses in Hong Kong and Macau are now carried out by Welmetal Steel (Hong Kong) Limited, Welmetal Steel (Macau) Limited, and Welmetal Steel Processing Company Limited. This diversification and strategic segregation of duties enable better service for major development projects in the Greater Bay Area and under the Lantau Tomorrow and Northern Metropolis strategies.
